A NEW ADVENTURE In 1991 my boss asked me to come with him to Cooperstown, where he was opening a Chinese restaurant. Once I saw how quiet the town was, and how polite the people were, I knew I wanted to raise a family here. So I decided to take over the business and make it my own. CLAIM TO FAME Cooperstown is known for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. According to folklore, Abner Doubleday invented baseball in a cow pasture here in 1839. We also have Dreams Park, where Little Leaguers compete in baseball tournaments during the summer.
SMALL-TOWN-CHARM When Yanie was in the hospital giving birth to Jonathon, she had a long labor, but I couldn't be there the entire time because of the restaurant. So when two of our customers - a married couple we met at church - asked if they could keep Yanie company, I was touched.
BIG ON BOATING Jonathan and Michelle like to go boating on Otsego Lake in Glimmerglass State Park with their friends and their friend's families. When they come home, they can't stop talking aboit it. They ask, "Daddy, are we going to buy a boat?" I just laugh and say, "Not right now!" WET AND WILD On Saturday morning in the summer Michelle and Jonathan swim at the Clark Sports Center. COME TOGETHER Each year I host a party for the Chinese New Year. I invite four to five famileis and prepare traditional Chinese food. We steam a whole fish and season it - because fish represent wealth and good luck for the future - and serve Nian Gao, a sticky, sweet rice cake. I try to teach our friends a little bit about Chinese culture while we celebrate!
